What sets us apart?

Focus

Focus on Douglas County

Our heart and home is in Douglas County. We are a subsidiary of Douglas Electric Cooperative. DFN was formed in May of 2002 to meet the challenge of providing essential broadband services throughout Douglas County.

Focus on Facilities

DFN is a facilities based carrier. That means we build what we sell. The fiber optic cables are ours. The radio systems are ours. We own it and we support it.

Focus on Business

Business is our bread & butter. Every business gets our top level of service and support. We know you have choices. We know that service often makes the difference. Let us show you how much of a difference it can be.

Support

We take pride in our customer support. If you have a problem we have a problem. Our monitoring systems maintain a watch on all critical resources 24 hours a day with instant pager alerts to the on-call engineer if problems arise. Our 24 hour call center will escalate business trouble calls to an engineer immediately on request. Our engineers have decades of operational experience on some of the largest and most critical networks in the world. Our people are local. Our warehouse is local. Our equipment is local. It doesn't take a long distance phone call and hours of travel time before help arrives.

Infrastructure

Our parent is an electric utility. We build utility grade infrastructure. High count fiber optic cables laid in redundant rings. Commercial grade, highly efficient radio systems. Carrier class points of presence. Uninterruptible power supplies rated in days, not minutes. Top shelf Metro Ethernet switches, routers, and optics. Reliable, redundant, secure, and fast.

Relationships

We interconnect with all of the major local voice service providers, including Qwest, Rio, and Comspan, as well as LS Networks for wide area Ethernet, SONET, and IP services. We can provide fiber based local loops, integrated access, and wide area transport to or for nearly any major carrier. Locally, we provide service for most of Douglas County's Healthcare, Education, and Government organizations.

Fiber Services

Fiber Optic based services are the universal standard for speed, reliability, and security. DFN's private fiber infrastructure provides a backbone loop around Roseburg, including areas around Stephens, Edenbower, Stewart Parkway, Harvard Ave, Main, and Winchester, with extensions into Melrose and down Diamond Lake Blvd. Our fiber also extends into the Qwest Central Office in Roseburg.

Internet Access

"Nothing but Glass" direct fiber access to the Portland, Seattle, and Sacramento Internet exchanges via our relationship with LS Networks. Virtually unlimited bandwidth available.  From a demarcation device on your premises to our handoff to an upstream carrier the service is constantly monitored for service quality. Multi-homed upstream connectivity through diverse carriers and facilities ensures uninterrupted service. There is no faster or more reliable service available in Douglas County.

Metro Ethernet / Transparent LAN Services

Transparent LAN Services (TLS) allows a single Ethernet LAN to span multiple locations, simplifying your network addressing and routing. This service is private, meaning your data never crosses the public Internet. It travels inside a wrapper, a Virtual LAN (VLAN) reserved for your organization's exclusive use. Only locations assigned to the same VLAN can see the traffic it contains. TLS networks support protocols not available over the Internet, which enables many applications that cannot use other technologies such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). TLS networks are often used to link remote offices, telecommuters, and offsite backup facilities.

TDM Services

Time Division Multiplexed services are bit-transparent, fixed rate services commonly associated with traditional voice services. Common speeds include 1.5Mbps DS1 (or T-1) and 45Mbps DS3 (T-3). DFN can provide point to point transmission of these and other speeds (including SONET speeds) and can also provide aggregation (multiplexing and demultiplexing) services. These services are generally used to interconnect PBX systems at different locations and to access voice service providers. We interconnect with Qwest, Rio, and Comspan locally. Special arrangements can provide full redundancy to key circuits, including physically diverse fiber path routing.

Other Services

Additional fiber based services are available including wide area Fibrechannel and IBM Mainframe ESCON connections. Call us with your requirements.

Wireless Services

Fast, reliable, available, and affordable. DFN's Business Wireless Broadband services provide true business class services over a wide and growing service area.

Internet Access

From our BizLite low cost basic service for non-critical business use to custom-designed 100Mbps or more dedicated solutions DFN can meet your business Internet needs. Our mainstream business services offer guaranteed minimum symmetrical bit rates of 384Kbps and up with available maximum throughputs of 3 to 5 megabits per second.

Transparent LAN Services

Our business wireless services (except BizLite) can support TLS services, including interconnects to fiber based TLS circuits. TLS can greatly simplify interoffice or telecommuter configurations, providing remote access as if the user were connected to the local LAN.

Dedicated Services

Need something special? Higher bandwidth? TDM services? Service in unserved areas? Talk to us about a dedicated link service. We can engineer a custom service to meet your needs.

Custom Engineered Services

Have a special requirement that hasn't been addressed? Give us a call. Our engineers love a challenge. If a solution exists we can help you find it.
